Undeserving of the Throne

Q: WTF is she talking about?  A: I have no idea, ask her.

“It’s all about an individual’s interpretation or perception.”

Here I am
hovering over the water again
hearing myself groan
picturing a long and narrow river
that keeps pushing away the stones

Crying over the blood stained river
sometimes it feels so good
sometimes it feels so bad
I just keep trying to spit out the seeds
of the most rotten fruit I’ve ever had

Never kneel at the feet
of the one who’s
bringing you down
Cuddle up to the one
who’s always been there for you
when no one else cares enough to come around

The man who thinks he is my king has become so ornery.

It’s hard to believe
I still stumble through these weeds
I’d rather be walking
through the fields of flowers
that I can still smell growing
from under the dead and rotting leaves

As long as there is a river
that keeps flowing through it all
I will still have enough hope
Let the river stay powerful enough
to keep pushing away the stones

The man who thinks he is my king has become so ornery.

Never kneel at the feet
of the one who’s
bringing you down
Cuddle up to the one
who’s always been there for you
when no one else cares enough to come around

You in your shining armor,
who always creeps in with the night,
while the king has been so ornery
and draining me of life

Leave behind the cavalry,
just come in with the sun’s lowering light
This time I’m leaving with you,
this time tonight is the night

Never kneel at the feet
of the one who’s
bringing you down
Believe in the one
who’s always been there for you
when no one else cares enough to come around
