Love Pioneer

I feel really bad for this crying city cowboy. But… he’s single now ladies. Treat him right.

Written by ME: Copright 2017  All lyrics are recorded with the Library of Congress of the United States of America.

I still walk these city streets
like I’ve got clouds below my feet
and I smile at strangers as they walk by me

No one knows how bare she stripped me
of my dreams and dignity
I’ve got years of history behind me

I can survive the burning sun and ice cold nights
I prefer the light of a candle
no need for Edison’s electric light

My heart learned to live so simple
This isn’t it’s first time dragging behind me on the ground,
at least tonight we’re not stuck sleeping on the couch

As long as I don’t slip and fall on my tears
Keep my head above the ocean full of faith and fears
Throw away the memories, the pain, the love, the hope from all those years
I can step into another day as an imaginary love pioneer

The buildings are tall like mountains
The city lights look like stars
All I have again is my heartache and my guitar

Alone in my motel room
Feels like I’ve traveled so far
I preserve my memories like jelly in a jar

A break up feels like a cruel winter
and you don’t have the flames of a fire
And if you don’t prepare all year the situation is dire

This city is a wilderness
When your heart doesn’t have a home
Just whiskey for some company when I’m all alone

As long as I don’t slip and fall on my tears
Keep my head above the ocean full of faith and fears
Throw away the memories, the pain, the love, the hope from all those years
I can step into another day as an imaginary love pioneer

Will I ever reach the summit where her love is found?
If I ever do, this time I will plant my flag in the ground
Wondering if I should apologize to end this journey for good
Right now everything feels like a sad scene out of old Hollywood

As long as I don’t slip and fall on my tears
Keep my head above the ocean full of faith and fears
Throw away the memories, the pain, the love, the hope from all those years
I can step into another day as an imaginary love pioneer
